Jasmina Merkus was born in Sisak, Croatia, Dora Maar’s town. Since 2020 she lives on Vis, the island of her ancestors. 

She studied Fine Arts at the Complutense University of Madrid, with stays in Barcelona and Macerata (Italy). She specialized in mural arts at the La Palma school in Madrid. 

In Vis she works in ceramics, glass, prints and painting in her workshop in the Samogor area and exhibits in her gallery (Bavul) near the Summer cinema.  

Sea animals, plants, herbs and cats inspire her works. Mediterranean women, from Artemis to melancholic Byzantine ladies resonate in her art.
